New for 2016, the Crossfade dining table has been created by Damien Jernay for Mogg Design, an up & coming new Italian brand founded 4 years ago by architect Nicola Galbiati.
Damien's inspiration for the Crossfade table came from the world of film editing, a fade is a gradual transition from one image to another. This effect is created by controlled double exposure from frame to frame; transiting from the end of one clip to the beginning of another.
In the production process, matter is subjected to transformation, from raw material to finished object. This transition occurs through machining. The Crossfade table is a ´ freeze frame ª in the process, to imagine a product, fixed in the middle of its transformation, to make a ´fadeª between the raw material and the finished object.
The table top is made from solid ash, with olive wood legs having natural bark. The irregularities of the bark must be considered a merit and not a defect, making each table unique. Choose from either a natural wood finish or dyed wood finish, as per the colours of the collection.
